

Heather White
Founder & Artistic Director.
Heather White is the founder and artistic director of Weird Alice Entertainment. Her personal practice explores themes of addiction, sexism, pop culture and neurodivergence. She strives to tell untold yet relatable stories with intelligence, perspective and a bold aesthetic.
Heather has worked as an actor more than 10 years- appearing in stage productions, television, film and music videos. She now additionally works as director, facilitator, filmmaker, writer, dancer and choreographer. As well as performing solo works which span live art, durational movement and contemporary dance performance.
After graduating from The Arden’s Theatre and Performance degree, she trained with Epic Stages (National Youth Theatre) and was part of the CTRL Artist Development Programme with Lowry x Submerge Festival and DigiLabs 2023 with Imitating The Dog. She has had film work nominated by the BFI, her solo projects programmed within the Manchester theatre scene such as her works ‘I, The Girl.’ and ‘No Caller ID’.
She is currently developing a solo work for Forge Festival 2025 with The Knotted Project which is also an embodied trans-media exploration of time and connection. Alongside this- she is continuing the development of Sanspective and beginning to investigate climate focused live art with a brand new collective which she also leads.

Flesh & Bones (2024)
​
'Flesh & Bones' by Heather White is a redeveloped piece exploring the colonisation, oppression and exploitation of the female body, aswell as the reclamation of space and liberation of trauma through movement. It weaves together a constellation of individual stories, tackling issues spanning topics such as self-image, pop culture and the porn industry.
Blending dance, contemporary movement, poetry and projection- 'Flesh & Bones' is both beautifully raw and glamorously real. Heather aims to create a powerful work that resonates with and builds community among women. The development of this work is being supported by Oldham Coliseum.
No Caller ID (2024)
​
No Caller ID is a durational live art performance by Heather White exploring hereditary addiction and cyclical futility, commissioned by Word Of Warning for Emergency 2024. Entering a solitary tournament on which her life depends. Deciphering willpower, genetics and chance. Asking the questions she doesn't want to know the answers to. Where is that call coming from? Is the realisation too late or was it futile from the start?
No physical challenge, only mental strength- play the game.


The Party (2024)

The Party is a play devised by a group of 5 neurodivergent multidisciplinary artists working with Starling CIO on a theatrical exploration for their 5th birthday celebration at CONTACT Theatre. The work explored personal and touching topics as well as being humorous and relatable. It was above all incredibly affirming, inspiring and validating for neurodivergent young people.
I, The Girl. (2023)

'I, The Girl.' (2023) performed at Contact Theatre in Manchester commissioned by WordOfWarning for Emergency 2023 was Heather's debut solo show. This piece was a trans-media exploration of representations of mentally ill women in media, the history of hysteria, female neurodivergence and lived experiences. This work blended film-making, animation and live performance, and Heather aims to develop it further soon!


Physically Mental (2023)

'Physically Mental' (2023) is a short film- shot, performed and edited by Heather in response to a competition provocation set by HOME Theatre and The British Film Institute. The film explores her lived experiences with PMDD (Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder) through contemporary movement and cinematography. This film was selected as a finalist in the competition and screened in Leeds with Leeds Park Picture House.
Flesh & Bones (2022)

'Flesh & Bones' (2022) performed at Contact Theatre as part of Arden School Of Theatre's 'UnTapped Festival' is a piece of performance written and choreographed by Heather. The show investigates the female body, reclamation of trauma, empowerment and liberation with a sparkly bimbo aesthetic. Heather shares a journey of autobiographical moments, some of hilarity and some of darkness - all wrapped up in a commanding, moving performance. She hopes to revisit, rework and redevelop this work soon!

Workshops & Facilitation
Heather has accumulated several years working with young people. She has worked as a drama and dance teacher for various children's theatre schools across children age 3-16. During this time Heather staged pantomimes, plays and musicals with a multitude of diverse groups.
She has also tutored in art & design at GCSE level.
Heather has been running yearly workshop series' in secondary schools for the past 3 years. Her workshop series is tailored to devising with exploration into: contemporary movement, thinking creatively, generating ideas, comedy, acting with realism and group movement.
Heather also delivers freelance physical theatre and contemporary movement workshops - deriving methods from her neuro-affirming working style.
Heather has also been working for Starling CIO as an artist and facilitator- producing creative sessions for neurodivergent young people in secondary schools.
